Unity GameJam by MovieStarPlanet

Friday afternoon was dedicated to cross-company Unity GameJam to test the newly developed Unity Core – NEBULA – where stars are born, hence the foundation for future MovieStarPlanet products.

The main goal of Nebula is to make it easier to make games for our Social Network, so what better test environment than our own creative game developers?

Each development team had to include 3 fundamental features:

  • CREATE A MULTIPLAYER CHATROOM
  • PLUG IN YOUR OWN AVATAR
  • MAKE A NEW CREATIVE FEATURE

It is no surprise that there will be a few initial hiccups with a new technology, but the feedback was overwhelming and full of good ideas.

The main purpose was to challenge our assumptions on how developers want to use Nebula and to have Friday afternoon fun together at the same time“, says Nebula’s Product Manager, Dagbjørt Jónsdóttir

We experienced that developers want more automation and more customizability. We got a detailed list of infrastructure that must be in place before we will start producing actual games.

The GameJam learnings are of great importance to help in planning Nebula and Unity training, hence where to direct our priorities and focus.

MovieStarPlanet GameJam is born and is here to stay.
